Conducting Systematic Literature Review on Systematic Literature Review-based Articles: A Review of Conceptual and Practical Issues

The increase in the production of scientific publications encourages the use of Systematic Literature Review (SLR) as a method for systematic and transparent evidence synthesis. However, various studies indicate inconsistencies in SLR practices. This research aims to identify and analyze conceptual, methodological, and practical issues in SLR-based articles. The method used is SLR on 41 articles from the period 2021–2025 from the Scopus database, through selection stages based on the PRISMA protocol. The results show six main issues, namely ambiguity in the definition of SLR, inconsistency in protocols, weaknesses in search strategies, limitations in quality assessment, variations in data extraction and synthesis techniques, and practical barriers affecting replication. These findings underscore the need for methodological standardization, increased transparency, and strengthened research capacity to support more credible and sustainable knowledge governance.
