Nonlinear Optimization in Oil Palm Processing: A Review on Enhancing Efficiency and Sustainability

April 20, 2026117 views

This research is motivated by the increasing global demand for palm oil, accompanied by pressure to enhance the efficiency and sustainability of the production process. The study aims to examine the role of nonlinear optimization in improving the operational performance of the palm oil processing industry. The method used is a Systematic Literature Review (SLR) based on PRISMA of 36 recent scientific articles. The study results indicate that nonlinear optimization can enhance energy efficiency, reduce emissions, and optimize production processes, logistics, and waste utilization into energy. However, its implementation is still limited due to data constraints, digital infrastructure, and computational complexity. Therefore, integrating this technology with policies and circular economy principles is crucial to promoting more sustainable palm oil industry governance.
