Palm Oil and Immunotherapy: A Review of Recent Research
This article reviews the potential of bioactive compounds in palm oil to support immune function and immunotherapy. The background is the increasing attention to the relationship between nutrition, inflammation, and immune response therapy, while evidence on the role of tocotrienols, carotenoids, and palm phenolics remains scattered. The research uses a PRISMA-based Systematic Literature Review of 29 Scopus articles from the period 2020–2025. The study results indicate that palm bioactive compounds have the potential to enhance T cell proliferation, NK cell activity, dendritic cell maturation, antioxidant capacity, and regulation of inflammatory pathways. These findings open up opportunities for palm oil as a functional adjunct in immunotherapy, but long-term clinical research, dose optimization, and mechanistic validation in humans are still needed.
