Security and Forensic Issues in Internet of Everything Networks: A Review
This research is motivated by the development of the Internet of Everything (IoE), which integrates devices, people, and data within a complex digital ecosystem, while simultaneously increasing security risks and forensic challenges. This study aims to synthesize security and forensic issues comprehensively through a Systematic Literature Review (SLR) of 28 scientific publications (2020–2025). The results reveal six main issues, including system architecture vulnerabilities, privacy protection, and difficulties in acquiring and preserving digital evidence. Solutions such as blockchain, AI, and hybrid energy systems have proven to enhance security and forensic reliability, although they still face challenges related to interoperability, regulation, and resource efficiency. The implications are that a "forensic-by-design" approach, standardization, and the integration of technical, legal, and governance aspects are needed to build a secure, reliable, and sustainable IoE ecosystem.
