BPDP Continues to Upgrade Superior Palm Oil Human Resources

Human resources are the spearhead of progress in all fields, including the palm oil industry. Therefore, BPDP continuously strives to upgrade the capabilities of farmers, their families, extension workers, assistants, and civil servants related to the palm oil industry to always catch up with the times.
PT Daya Guna Lestari (DGL) has once again implemented the Palm Oil Plantation Human Resource Development Program (SDM PKS) held at Hotel Aryaduta, Pekanbaru, Riau Province. This program is one of the initiatives by the Palm Oil Plantation Fund Management Agency (BPDP) in collaboration with the Directorate General of Plantations, Ministry of Agriculture (Kementan), aimed at enhancing the knowledge, skills, professionalism, independence, and competitiveness of the participants. Additionally, the training is designed to develop technical, managerial, and entrepreneurial skills, enabling participants to be more independent and contribute optimally to the sustainable and productive management of palm oil plantations.
The Palm Oil Plantation Fund Management Agency (BPDP) is an institution under the Ministry of Finance of the Republic of Indonesia tasked with managing palm oil plantation funds to support national strategic programs, including human resource development, research, smallholder oil palm replanting, and infrastructure. Meanwhile, PT Daya Guna Lestari is the training implementation partner with experience in managing palm oil human resource development programs in recent years. The year 2025 marks the third year PT DGL has been entrusted by BPDP to conduct this SDM-PKS training. This year, PT DGL is entrusted to organize 12 classes in three provinces, namely Riau, North Kalimantan, and South Sumatra.
In his remarks, the President Director of PT Daya Guna Lestari, M Gema Aliza Putra, stated that this program is a tangible form of commitment from the Palm Oil Plantation Fund Management Agency and the Directorate General of Plantations, Ministry of Agriculture, in enhancing human resource capacity in the plantation sector.

On the same occasion, the Head of the Riau Province Plantation Office, Syahrial Abdi, AP, M.Si, officially opened the training. In his remarks, he stated that this training provides tangible benefits, especially for our smallholders. "We fully support this activity so that its benefits can be maximized for the farmers. In the future, we hope that smallholders who are currently standing alone can join stronger institutions. Materials such as leadership and communication provided are also very relevant to enhance their capacity," he said.
This activity is conducted for participants listed in the Technical Recommendation of the Director General of Plantations and officially determined through the Decree of the President Director of BPDP. The SDM PKS Training participants include smallholders, smallholder families, extension workers, assistants, civil servants (ASN) working in the palm oil sector, and the surrounding community, who have been listed in the technical recommendation and determined by the President Director of BPDP.
With the implementation of this training, it is hoped that participants can return to their respective regions equipped with applicable knowledge and skills and become agents of change in the palm oil industry sector. The collaboration between BPDP, the Directorate General of Plantations, and PT Daya Guna Lestari is concrete evidence that human resource development is a crucial pillar in realizing a sustainable, inclusive, and globally competitive Indonesian palm oil industry.
