Barriers and Opportunities of Blockchain Implementation for the Circular Economy in Palm Oil: A Review

This journal examines the opportunities and challenges of implementing blockchain to support the circular economy in the palm oil supply chain. Amid demands for transparency and resource efficiency, this study aims to synthesize the latest scientific evidence through a PRISMA-based Systematic Literature Review of 29 articles (2021–2025). The results indicate that blockchain has the potential to enhance traceability, coordination, and material efficiency, but its adoption is hindered by infrastructure readiness, costs, data governance, and stakeholder capacity. The study emphasizes blockchain as a contextual enabler that requires regulatory support and multi-stakeholder collaboration.
