Green Job Creation and Conservation-Related Employment in Oil Palm Plantation Management: A Systematic Review of High Conservation Value Area Governance

April 20, 2026143 views

This article is set against the backdrop of increasing global pressure on sustainability, particularly in balancing oil palm production with environmental conservation. The study aims to synthesize scientific evidence regarding the contribution of High Conservation Value (HCV) management to biodiversity conservation, habitat restoration, and the creation of green jobs. The method used is a Systematic Literature Review of 34 scientific articles from the period 2019–2026. The results show that HCV can enhance biodiversity, promote gradual ecosystem recovery, and create conservation-based jobs such as monitoring and restoration. The implication is that HCV becomes a governance instrument that integrates ecological and economic objectives and is relevant for promoting more inclusive and sustainable oil palm plantation practices.
