Overcoming Barriers to Health Informatics Adoption: A Systematic Literature Review of Resistance and Integration in Telemedicine

May 18, 2026500 views

The digital transformation of healthcare, particularly telemedicine, is rapidly evolving but faces complex and uneven adoption challenges. This research aims to identify key barriers and integration strategies in the implementation of health informatics to support sustainable adoption. The method used is a Systematic Literature Review (SLR) based on the PRISMA protocol of 43 selected scientific articles from the period 2020–2025. The study results indicate five main groups of barriers: technical and infrastructure limitations, user resistance, organizational and financial constraints, as well as policy and regulatory challenges. The findings also affirm that these barriers are interrelated and reinforce each other. Effective adoption requires an integrated approach through infrastructure investment, human resource capacity building, financial incentives, and a clear regulatory framework. This study emphasizes the importance of cross-stakeholder synergy in promoting inclusive and sustainable digital health governance.
