The Importance of the Partnership Model in Accelerating Smallholder Oil Palm Replanting Program
February 10, 2026402 views
This journal analyzes the prospects of Indonesia's palm oil sector in 2026 by placing the welfare of smallholders in the context of sustainability pressures and biodiesel policies. Through a qualitative literature review of scientific publications, IPOSS reports, and policy documents from 2020–2025, this study identifies key factors: the expansion of the B40–B50 mandate, the implementation of EUDR, productivity gaps, and the slowdown in replanting. The findings indicate relatively stable production; however, the welfare of smallholders is vulnerable to price volatility, certification costs, and market access barriers. Acceleration of replanting, price stabilization, ISPO expansion, and strengthening data-driven governance are needed.
