IPOSS Attends 45th Anniversary of GAPKI, Strengthens National Palm Oil Industry Synergy

Jakarta, April 29, 2026 — The Indonesian Palm Oil Association (GAPKI) held its 45th Anniversary celebration, which was combined with the launch of the book “45 Years of GAPKI for the Nation” at the Pullman Hotel, Thamrin, Central Jakarta. This event served as a moment of reflection on GAPKI's long journey since its establishment in 1981 in overseeing and developing the palm oil industry as one of the strategic pillars of the national economy.

The event was attended by various stakeholders, including government representatives, palm oil sector associations, industry players, and strategic partners. On this occasion, IPOSS participated as an active form of support in strengthening the national palm oil industry ecosystem based on research and data.

The Chairman of GAPKI, Eddy Martono, in his speech, emphasized that the 45th anniversary of GAPKI is not only a marker of the organization's age but also a reflection on the dynamics and contributions of the palm oil industry to the national economy. This industry is considered to have played a significant role in creating jobs, promoting regional development, and becoming one of the country's sources of foreign exchange.

The series of events included the screening of a video on GAPKI's journey, a speech by the Chairman, a presentation by the book's writing team, and a symbolic book launch and tumpeng cutting ceremony. The book “45 Years of GAPKI for the Nation” records the organization's journey in building a resilient, sustainable, and globally competitive palm oil industry.

On the same occasion, government representatives expressed appreciation for GAPKI's contribution to the development of the national palm oil industry, including providing data-based input and field experience on various strategic policies, such as strengthening non-oil and gas exports, the Smallholder Oil Palm Replanting (PSR) program, and the development of biodiesel as part of national energy security.

The presence of IPOSS at this event aligns with the institution's commitment to strengthening the role of research and strategic analysis to support data-based policies in the palm oil sector. Through collaboration with various stakeholders, IPOSS continues to promote the strengthening of industry governance, productivity improvement, and the development of a fact-based and balanced palm oil narrative.

The momentum of GAPKI's 45th anniversary is expected to further strengthen the synergy between the government, business actors, associations, and research institutions in promoting an inclusive, sustainable, and globally competitive Indonesian palm oil industry, in line with the vision of Golden Indonesia 2045.
