Indonesia Palm Oil Strategic Studies (IPOSS) together with the Global Alliance for Sustainable Planet (GASP) held a Roundtable Discussion titled “Unlocking Opportunities: Advancing Indonesia’s Leadership in Sustainable Palm Oil” on February 18, 2025, during the Indonesia Economic Summit 2025 organized by the Indonesia Business Council (IBC). The Roundtable Discussion brought together more than 60 key figures from Indonesia and around the world. Among those present were Deputy Minister of Agriculture Sudaryono, European Union Ambassador to Indonesia and Brunei Darussalam Denis Chaibi, CEO of IBC and IPOSS Supervisory Board Dr. Sofyan A. Djalil, and Satya Tripathi as Secretary General of GASP.
The roundtable discussion at the Lotus Ballroom, Shangri-La Hotel, focused on business and investment collaboration, particularly related to the development of sustainable oil palm in Indonesia. For Indonesia, the oil palm industry has made a significant contribution to the national economy, accounting for about 3.5% of the national GDP and providing livelihoods for more than 18 million people. Collaborative efforts from all stakeholders are needed to address various challenges to ensure the sustainability of oil palm.
